The Ghost Shad, Jerk Shad Jr. and Storm Minnow can all be jigged deep on a standard weighted jig head. Because of it’s smaller size, the Jerk Shad Jr. is a great option when fish aren’t keying in on larger baits or when fish are short striking the paddle tails.
When fishing the Ghost Shad or Jerk Shad as a suspended twitch bait, let the bait sink for a few seconds then give it a few twitches, rod tip down, on a slack line then let it settle for a few seconds. Strikes will usually come on the fall and tend to be violent. Vary the cadence and sink time till a pattern is found.
Try fishing the Jerk Shad Jr. on a double rig under a cork as a search bait. Not only do you have the opportunity to double up, but two baits apparently chasing one another is twice as visible and often trigger strikes that single baits will not. Try two different colors to see if the fish prefer one over another. This is a great way to not only find fish quickly but also determine which color is more productive that day.

“The Croaker is my go to bait when fishing oyster reefs in the summer for spawning specs. They literally cannot help but crush this bait!”
